My Sacred Body is based on the following 3 yoga principals:
Pranayama: Breathing Techniques
Bringing awareness to your breath affects how your nervous system reacts to stressful situations. Managing your breath triggers your parasympathetic nervous system. This function promotes calm, helping you to process stressful situations with clarity.
Asana: The physical practice of yoga
The physical practice of yoga dissolves tension, builds strength, eliminates toxins, increases mobility and circulation. Taking care of your physical self builds respect for your body. If you respect your body, you will have the same expectation of others.
Dhyana: Meditation
Practicing meditation quiets the mind helping us process racing and competing thoughts. Making time to be still and to sit with our emotions will teach my students how to deal with uncomfortable situations. Surrendering to our emotions instead of ignoring them helps in processing our feelings so we can move forward. Being able to overcome life’s obstacles in a healthy and productive manner builds confidence.
